The ruin of the fortress

Fort Cornwallis is a Historical Landmark in George Town, City in Penang Island. It is located few miles from Kota Lama, an attraction for gathering in Penang Island. This fort was built British East India Company lead by Sir Francis Light in late 18th century. It is now recognised as one of the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This fort site open for public as recreational and historical place. It has been said that this fort was named after The Lieutenant-General Earl Cornwallis II, the Governor-General of Bengal during at time of this fort built. This fort has been said as the largest standing fort in Malaysia.
