The Genting tourist food trap

I decided to bring my parents and cousin to this restaurant, which I thought looked good. First, about the service. We were brought into a private room and forced to buy tea at 18 RM per pax, while seating outside cost 8 RM per pax. This should have been communicated beforehand, but no one informed us. When we asked if we could have other drinks instead of tea, the waitress told us that tea was compulsory if we sat in the room. This is quite absurd—what if we don’t drink tea? Nevertheless, I didn’t want to dampen my parents’ mood, so I went along with the arrangement. Since the table given to us wasn’t very big, the number of dishes we ordered took up too much space. The staff were quick to serve and kept pressuring us to finish by constantly trying to clear plates with food still remaining. At this price range, the service should have included helping us rearrange the dishes onto smaller plates to make space, rather than rushing us. The only good thing was that one male server was quite proactive in refilling the tea for the elderly. Moving on to the food—I would say it wasn’t bad, but for this price range, I expected better quality than the tze char I get in Singapore. There was no real wow factor except for the 238 RM Char Siew and Roasted Pork, which was something different. However, I definitely wouldn’t pay this price again for such a small portion. Total damage: 988.50 RM (about 300+ SGD).
