Crystal Cathedral

The Crystal Cathedral is located in Orange County, California, south of Los Angeles. It is in a place called Garden Grove. Construction began in 1968 and was completed in 1980, taking 12 years and costing more than $20 million. The building was designed by the famous American architect and gold medal winner, Philip Johnson, and his partner, John Burgee. The cathedral is 122 meters long, 61 meters wide, and 36 meters high, with a volume larger than the famous Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The entire exterior is made of silver glass, crystal clear and transparent, hence the name.
