Shanxi. Gaoping City. Ancient Zhong Temple

The Ancient Zhong Temple faces south with its back to the north, divided into upper and lower courtyards. Along the central axis are the mountain gate, the No-Beam Hall, and the main hall, with wing rooms and side halls on both sides. Outside the mountain gate, there are four-room eastern and western opera stages. On the west side of the mountain gate, there is a brick-arched side entrance with the inscription "Yandi Zhong Temple," which was originally the entrance to the temple. The No-Beam Hall, also known as the Crown Prince Hall, is the main building of the Ancient Zhong Temple. It is a single-bay square structure with a xieshan (hip-and-gable) roof, five-tier bracket sets with downward cantilevers, round wooden columns, and large architraves. The roof has nine ridges and is covered with ordinary barrel tiles laid in an upward-facing pattern.
