New Zealand Tour ~ Take a helicopter to hike on the Tasman Glacier

On the morning of October 19, it was a sunny day with no clouds in the sky. We booked today's helicopter glacier hiking activity online with mtcookguides long ago. So with very good weather, the trip went smoothly🤩 After checking in, there will be about 40 minutes of safety instructions for helicopter and glacier hiking, plus luggage storage and equipment wearing. You must wear the boots they provide. You can also choose whether to borrow their socks, waterproof jackets and pants, etc. I wore my own clothes. Although I was wearing yoga pants, it is actually recommended to wear waterproof pants, because if you want to sit on the glacier or want to get into the beautiful but small ice cave, you must wear waterproof pants! And remember not to wear jeans, if they get wet they will become hard and stick to your feet very cold 😅 You must bring a hat and gloves, as the wind on the glacier is a bit wet and cold. Sunscreen and sunglasses are also essential! After the explanation, it’s time to board the plane! I was lucky to be arranged in the front row seat. The scenery along the way was so beautiful. Some sections were very close to the mountain (Pictures 3-6 were taken in a helicopter). This was my first experience of taking a helicopter. I was very nervous and excited. It took about 10-15 minutes to reach the glacier. The guide took us to walk and take pictures on the glacier for about an hour. Along the way, we saw azure ice caves, ice caves, and bottomless ice gullies. To be honest, it was quite strenuous to walk with crampons on, but snow scenery and glaciers are very far away and rare for me who lives in a warm area, so I was looking forward to it and excited the whole time 🤣 The discomfort of walking didn’t affect my mood much🤩 Glacier hiking was the most anticipated activity in New Zealand.
