Nixian Terrace: Originally compared to Xiangyang's Xian Mountain

🚘 In early spring February, I drove to Wuyuan to see the rapeseed flowers. On the third day, I stayed overnight in Fuzhou, Jiangxi. I originally planned to stay for one night and leave, but I found that there were many cultural relics here, so I stayed for half a day on the second day. After visiting the Fuzhou Celebrity Sculpture Park, I came to Nixian Terrace. 🍃 Nixian Terrace is located on the bank of the Fu River, built on a small hillside. Perhaps to build a square in front, a sunken passage was specially constructed along the riverside road here, which involved a significant amount of work, but it indeed makes this pavilion look more majestic. At the very front of the square facing the river is a stone archway, and on the left and right sides behind the archway are bell and drum towers. Together with Nixian Terrace, they form an organic whole. 🍃 Nixian Terrace is free to visit, and there is an elevator to reach the top floor. Standing on the terrace and looking far away, in front is the beautiful Fu River, and the opposite bank is the suburban area, already filled with small buildings. On the riverbank, there is also a slogan: 'Cultural Fuzhou, the Boat of Dreams.' To the left is a rainbow bridge, the beautiful Wenchang Bridge, which connects to Wenchang Li, the hometown of Tang Xianzu, a famous playwright from Linchuan. Behind is the thriving urban area of Fuzhou, filled with high-rise buildings. The top floor is converted into an exhibition hall, with a mural hanging in the central hall, depicting the scene of historical celebrities visiting Nixian Terrace. 🍃 Nixian Terrace was originally built in the second year of Jiayou during the Northern Song Dynasty (1057) and has been rebuilt many times in history. The current pavilion was completed in 2008 and is the most spectacular. Since the original site had been damaged and occupied, this Nixian Terrace is actually a reconstruction in a different location, with more symbolic significance. 🍃 The reason for naming it Nixian Terrace is unexpectedly related to Xian Mountain in Xiangyang. The founder of Nixian Terrace was Pei Jun, the governor of Fuzhou, who asked Zeng Gong to write a record. Zeng Gong, one of the eight great writers of the Tang and Song dynasties, could not refuse, so he wrote an article 'Record of Nixian Terrace,' which begins by explaining the name of the terrace. Originally, Pei Jun saw that the terrain here was very similar to Xian Mountain in Xiangyang, so he chose this name. 🍃 In fact, Xian Mountain is famous not only for its beautiful shape but also because Yang Hu of the Western Jin Dynasty made his mark there. Pei Jun named it Nixian Terrace, also implying a comparison to Yang Hu. Of course, Zeng Gong was well aware of Pei Jun's intentions, and in his writing, he did not flatter but subtly encouraged him to be diligent in his official duties. 📍 Address: Linchuan District, Fuzhou, Rushui Avenue 💰 Cost: Free to visit
