Fuzhou·Three Lanes and Seven Alleys

Three Lanes and Seven Alleys can be said to be the number one must-visit internet-famous spot in Fuzhou. The scenic area is located in the Gulou District, with Nanhou Street as the central axis. On one side are the Three Lanes—Guanglu Lane, Wenru Lane, and Yijin Lane; on the other side are the Seven Alleys—Gubi Alley, Gong Alley, Anmin Alley, Huang Alley, Ta Alley, Langguan Alley, and Yangqiao Alley, covering an area of 45 hectares. According to official sources, the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys originated in the Jin Dynasty, took shape during the Tang and Five Dynasties, and reached their peak in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. To this day, the ancient lanes and alleys have largely retained their original appearance and are said to be on the tentative list for World Heritage status.
