Fuzhou is not only about the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, but also about the Shipbuilding Culture

Fuzhou is the capital of Fujian Province and the birthplace of China's modern navy. The China Shipbuilding Cultural City, located in Mawei District, was known as the "Fuzhou Shipyard" during the Qing Dynasty. It is a product of the Westernization Movement carried out by the Westernization School headed by Li Hongzhang and Zuo Zongtang, and witnessed the growth of China's modern navy. Time flies, and now the Shipbuilding Culture City is open to citizens and tourists for free. There are many buses from Mawei District that can go directly there (remember to get off at Mawei Pedestrian Street Station, and never choose Shipbuilding Station, otherwise you will have to walk a long way). Of course, you can also choose to ride a shared bicycle (note that it is not an electric motorcycle, the bicycles here are pure 🚲) and enjoy the scenery along the way. The scenic area is very large and you need to plan your time reasonably. The main attractions include the Painting Institute (similar to a design institute, where you can design your own ships), the Shipbuilding Bookstore (a must-visit spot for internet celebrities), the China Shipbuilding Culture Museum and the Iron and Steel Factory. It takes at least two and a half hours to visit these attractions. In addition, if you have more time, you can visit the nearby Maxian Mountain, Luoxing Tower and Gezhi Garden, each of which has its own characteristics.
