The shrine enshrines Amaterasu Omikami, Susanoo no Naruto and Kiinadahime-no-Mikoto, and is believed to bless business prosperity, family peace and health. The Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival held every July is the shrine's most famous event, attracting a large number of tourists. The ginkgo tree at Kushida Shrine is also considered a sacred tree, symbolizing longevity and prosperity, and is a place where worshippers come to pray for good luck.
