The Hungry Adventurer

The quaint Lingnan Academy and kapok flowers

Spring in Guangzhou is marked by the blossoming of kapok flowers everywhere, but it is the quaint Lingnan architecture that truly complements the beauty of the kapok. In the Hebei Academy in Xiabeicun, Nanhai, Foshan, there are four ancient and towering kapok trees, all over a hundred years old. The Hebei Academy's rustic Lingnan earthenware house architecture, set against the kapok flowers, highlights the unique culture of Lingnan. Regrettably, when I took the photos, several ancient buildings of the Hebei Academy were already enclosed and under renovation. This place is still quite niche, and compared to the kapok photography at the Agricultural Lecture Hall, there are really very few people here. The entire village is also basically in a state of demolition and reconstruction, with most of the village houses already emptied and dismantled, but this also just gave us the space to look for shooting positions.
