Luxury hotel brand Auberge opens its first Italian property

California-based Auberge Resorts Collection, known for its wellness resorts, has opened its first hotel in Italy—Collegio alla Querce, Auberge Resorts Collection. This brand-new hotel is located on a historic hilltop campus in Florence, overlooking the city center and offering stunning views of the Renaissance capital. Collegio alla Querce dates back to the 16th century. Originally a university, it was later converted into a private villa and has long been inhabited by Italian aristocratic families. The renovation project, invested in by Analjit Singh, founder of the Leeu Collection group, has preserved the building's original historical features to the greatest extent possible, including precious frescoes and architectural details, creating an immersive cultural experience for guests. The hotel comprises three historic buildings, with a total of 66 rooms, 16 suites, and a 2,300-square-foot (approx. 213-square-meter) Quercia Suite. Starting at around USD 1,000/night, the hotel stands out in Florence's luxury hotel market. Compared to the luxury hotels in Florence's city center, Collegio alla Querce offers a more private and understated location in a quiet residential neighborhood. General Manager Francesco Ascani reveals that the surrounding area not only boasts well-preserved historic districts but also a traditional market known for its fresh produce, providing guests with a more authentic local experience. A 40-min walk or 15-min drive from the city center, the hotel allows guests to enjoy tranquility while still being able to immerse themselves in Florence's art and culture. The opening of Collegio alla Querce not only enriches Florence's high-end vacation options but also provides an ideal choice for travelers seeking a sense of history, cultural heritage, and privacy.
