Jungfrau Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
I see trees of green ♪
Beautiful alpine village nestled in the mountains with an amazing view of the Jungfrau valley and Lauterbrunnen down below. Taking the train up to Wengen will guarantee you a lovely view of Lauterbrunnen.
The village has shops, attractions and amenities within walking distance. Though, if you do decide to get a resort/hotel further up, be sure to ask for shuttle cars, the upwards slopes are no joke.
Our hotel had a lovely view of the cable car rides up to Männlichen, the street below and at night- if you’re willing to stand in the 14 degrees cold (even in summer) you can get a good picture of the night sky!
Of course, we couldn’t stay in Wengen without visiting Männlichen and her famous Royal Walk- a short hike of 1.7km, with elevations up to 80-120m up/down, grants you a truly breathtaking panoramic view. ((the gravel paths can be a bit slippery so be careful on the way down))
The trail from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg was an overall downhill walk with a view of Grindelwald down below and the snow capped mountains. But before you embark on this trail be sure to either get something to eat or drink (and the WC of course) at Männlichen as it is quite a long walk (about 4.7km). Near the midpoint you can see Eiger! A truly memorable walk with amazing scenery of the town below and mountains all around us.
Truly a scenic paradise with plenty of activities to do, whether you prefer to simply enjoy the views or try out some of their more thrilling activities. It was my first time visiting Switzerland but certainly won’t be the last!#switzerland #summervacation #nature #alps

Jungfrau | Top of Europe !!!! 🇨🇭
How to get there: There are 2 ways to go up Jungfrau: 1) By the Cable Car (Eiger Express) or 2) By train. We went up by the eiger express (from Grindelswald, interchanging at Terminal), and we came down by train.
Before we went up, we contemplated of joining a tour but given we have done a fair share of research, I ended up going by ourselves.
There are several viewing sites, which ofc include Jungfrau itself, ice palace, exhibition of history of the site construction of Jungfrau, and Lindlt chocolate museum.
It was negative 18 degree celsius on Jungfrau!!! So for those who cannot handle the cold, don’t visit during the winter 😂😂😂
Despite the weather condition was not ideal (no blue sky😣) but i guess it is as expected because we went during the winter ❄️)
Pro tip: I would recommend purchasing the swiss pass as you get discount for the jungfrau ticket and free transport within Switzerland!!

Grindelwald: A crime if you miss it!
Get here by train! We came via Basel and just enjoyed the scenic views from the huge train windows. Lake, villages, mountains, you won’t want to close your eyes!
Coming here in early autumn, we escaped the crowds and could explore First, Eiger, and Jungfraujoch with ease and little wait time. The mountains are magnificent all thru the year! The colours of the landscape will change and hiking to the Balchapsee is an experience in itself. Discovering WCs in the middle of nowhere, up
in the mountains, complete with toilet tissue is something only the Swiss can guarantee!
There are many hotels in this little village and all are within walking distance of the train station. We stayed at the Eiger Aparthotel as we wanted to prepare our own meals to save cost. Bookings come with daily afternoon tea and the variety of cakes, teas and coffees were an absolute treat!
There are many cafes around for fondue and all sorts of local delights. We opted to explore the two supermarkets for raw ingredients and cooked up our own dinners at a fraction of the cost of eating out. Do check out the different yogurt flavours, types of cheese, and cured meats too!
As it is a tourist destination, you can get souvenirs and major brands here. There is a post office (to send postcards) and some banks if you need forex.
My #2023travelwish is to drop by this beautiful place again in the SUMMER and take in the wonders of creation ❤️

Top of Europe: Snow, Sculptures, Slopes
Hop on a train to reach Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe, without the huffing and puffing! The air thins as you head up the mountain so take note not to over exert yourself.
The ice palace with beautiful ice sculptures is fascinating to visit, especially if you are from the tropics like me! Walking in the snow is fun but watch out for slippery ice as you queue to take a pic with Swiss flag. The view is breathtaking and it is COLD! Sunnies are really helpful with the blinding snow. Something special to do would be to video call your loved ones and show them the Top of Europe ❤️
There are a couple of eateries and a variety of shops if you are looking for Swiss gifts and keepsakes. The Top of Europe pass entitles you to some discount here.
Opt for the gondolas as you head down to Grindelwald first where you can get a cuppa hot (Lindt) chocolate: it’s amazingly good! That was our ‘cherry on top’ to complete this unique adventure.
My #2023travelwish is to bring my friends on a trip to New Zealand’s South Island to explore the glaciers and look out for wild life.

It was not cheap to visit but it was all worth it. The view was scenic, and it has a viewing point in the Bernese Alps, at an altitude of 3,454 m.
Plan your trip carefully and refer to the weather forecast before you purchase your tickets.

Aletsch Glacier Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The first stop this time is to the Aletsch Glacier, because it is a world heritage site, the largest glacier in the Alps, and also because the glacier may disappear this century due to global warming
This first stop is to the Aletsch Glacier, because it is a world heritage site, the largest glacier in the Alps, and also because the glacier may disappear this century due to global warming. It is possible that if you look at the glacier one day later, there will be less.
Starting from the town of Bettmerhorn, walking on a gravel road for almost three and a half hours, it was really sour and refreshing. I haven't focused on the road under my feet for a long time, especially at an altitude of more than 2000 meters, with the glacier on the right~ Throw away the phone and wash your eyes in the mountains for a whole day. I met many locals along the way, hiking, mountain biking, this is the weekend routine of the Swiss, hiking in the mountains, as a foreigner, the speed was far behind by the locals Many Swiss people may not have been to Jungfrau, but they will come to Aletsch for hiking again and again.
Discovering Aletsch Glacier: A Swiss Adventure
Our road trip commenced with a breathtaking sunset over Aletsch Glacier, observed from the enchanting Eggishorn viewpoint
As the Alps' largest glacier, Aletsch Glacier treated us to diverse perspectives. We ventured to Moosfluh, adorned with vibrant red/orange flowers during autumn, providing another picturesque setting for a magnificent sunset! The return hike under the dim light, illuminated only by our headlamps, added an element of magic to the experience.
Reconnecting with the majestic mountains fills my heart with joy, and I eagerly anticipate sharing all my forthcoming Swiss adventures. Who knows, we might even have the chance to plan a hike together!

Ice Palace
#europetrip
Ice Palace is one of the must visit attractions when you are at Jungfraujoch. I’m from a tropical country, visiting a place sculpted from ice is very unique and special. It is a definitely an immersive experience inside a glacier. I’ll recommend you to wear something thicker as the temperature inside the Ice Palace is consistently cold. Inside the Ice Palace, there are a varieties of ice sculptures such as animal, piano and more. A visit to the Ice Palace is included with your Jungfraujoch tickets. The recommended best time to visit the Jungfraujoch will be between June and September.
Opening Hours: 7.30am - 3.30pm
Address: Jungfraujoch, 3823 Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland

snowing in spring
#skiadventure
We visited Grindelwald-First in May and were surprised to see snow in action. FIRST is one of the most popular places to visit in Switzerland.
The First Cliff Walk is just about 300 meters long, and what we saw was just white scenery due to the snow.
With this weather in May, we can imagine how snowy it will get in winter time. Maybe it is a sign for us to return during winter to experience some ski adventure.
