TERESA MCDANIEL

Lesser-known Bailong Bay

Fangchenggang's stunning lesser-known bay/Bailong Bay Setting off from Nanning to Fangchenggang is a 2-hour drive, passing by Bailang Beach. Now Bailang Beach is too commercial and crowded, so it's not recommended. You can continue along the highway, passing a military area, and a little further ahead you'll see a sign for Guai Shi Beach. If you go further in, you'll see the fork in the road marked in my last picture. One side leads to Guai Shi Beach, the other to Bailong Village. The reason for not recommending Guai Shi Beach is that it costs 10 yuan to park there, but it's not very suitable for camping because there are too many people. If you go to Bailong Village, there's a small dirt road on the left as marked in the picture, which leads to a guesthouse. You can drive straight to the beach from the back of the guesthouse. Once you're here, the sea is blue, with both beaches and reefs, and the sunset is beautiful. Compared to other beaches, there are fewer tourists and no development, so the scenery is more primitive. The bay here is divided into two parts, separated by a stretch of reef. If you climb over the reef, you'll see that the area I photographed from the air is wider and the scenery is unique. You can choose to camp on the beach here, but you'll need to hike into the beach. But remember to bring mosquito repellent, there are really a lot, a lot, a lot of mosquitoes. I'll say it three times because it's important. If you don't want to camp, you can choose to stay at a nearby guesthouse, 'Peninsula Fishing Village Guesthouse'. The hygiene and decor aren't luxurious, but it's good value for money. Prices range from one to two hundred. There are quite a few people here with paddle boards, and the aerial shots from drones are really impressive. Remember, if you have a drone, bring it, bring it, bring it! I'll say it three times because it's important. There are also many people here who bring their children to catch sea creatures. You might have a different kind of gain.
