It is said that it was called 'Big mountain' because it looks big when looking west from the eastern part of Wonnam-myeon. In Eumseong place name (1998), another name for Big mountain is introduced as 'Bodeoksan (普德山)'. In Joseonjiji data, it is recorded that Bodeoksan is in Boryong-ri, Wonnam-myeon. Meanwhile, there is a flower temple or Hwasa (花寺) to the southwest of Big Mountain, and this Hwasa is also marked on the 1872 local map. The name of the mountain where Hwasa is on this map is marked as Munsusan (文殊山). Now, the 340m high peak in Deokjeong-ri is called Munsubong.
