Heicheng Ruoshui Populus Euphratica Forest

Heicheng Ruoshui Populus Euphratica Forest Scenic Area Heicheng, also known as Heishui City, is the site of the Western Xia Dynasty. The current ancient city was rebuilt for tourism purposes. Ruoshui refers to the Ruoshui River. This scenic area is about 17 km from the Ejin Banner government. The Heishui City Ruins were built during the Western Xia regime in the 9th century and were abandoned after being destroyed by the Ming Dynasty general Feng Sheng in 1372 AD. 200 years ago, Russian scholars came here and stole many documents, the most important of which was the Western Xia dictionary "Fan Han He Shi Zhang Zhong Zhu." These unearthed documents revealed the existence of the Western Xia Kingdom, which was not recorded in the 24 Histories. Now, in the suburbs of Yinchuan City, at the foot of Helan Mountain, there is a well-preserved Western Xia Imperial Tomb with inscriptions in the lost Western Xia script. The Western Xia Kingdom was established by the Tangut people and was massacred by Genghis Khan's army, leaving no one alive, so the Western Xia Kingdom disappeared from history. ... In history, Heishui City was first built by the Western Xia people and then occupied by the Mongols. The Mongol general's surname was Hei, so it is now called Heishui City or Heicheng.
