A magical walk in Puck's Glen, Dunoon

Tucked away just outside Dunoon, this magical gorge walk winds through moss-covered rocks, tumbling waterfalls, and twisting stone steps that lead ever deeper into the forest. It’s one of the most atmospheric walks in Scotland — shaded, cool, and full of that enchanted feeling you can’t quite put into words. Every turn reveals another tiny cascade or ancient tree draped in green. Even on a misty day, it’s stunning (maybe even more so). The trail is well-marked but can be steep and slippery in places, so good shoes are a must. We looped back along the gorge track because of storm damage, causing trees to fall on the trail.
