Dujiangyan

is located in Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, west of the city. It sits on the Min River in the west of the Chengdu Plain. It is a huge project system composed of the canal head hub (Yuzui, Feishayan, Baopingkou), irrigation area at all levels of water diversion channels, various engineering buildings, and large, medium, and small reservoirs and ponds. The canal head covers an area of more than 200 acres. Dujiangyan is the world's oldest, only remaining large-scale water conservancy project characterized by water diversion without a dam. It makes full use of the local geographical conditions of high in the northwest and low in the southeast, and according to the special terrain, water veins, and water potential at the river's exit, it takes advantage of the situation to guide water, divert water without a dam, and irrigate by gravity, so that the embankment, water diversion, flood discharge, sand discharge, and flow control depend on each other and form a system together. Dujiangyan is a world cultural heritage site and a national 5A-rated scenic spot that charges admission. Multiple buses and subways reach this scenic spot. It is also a must-visit place in Chengdu.
