In the summer of 1942, the master of Sinology, Nan Huaijin, traveled to Sichuan and once lived in seclusion and practiced in Lingyan Temple. According to historical records, Lingyan Temple was first built during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty and was rebuilt by the eminent monk Huichong during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. The temple was built under the Qixing Rock of Lingyan Mountain, piled up according to the mountain terrain. From the air, it looks vast and symmetrical, as if it is a natural existence in the mountains, which is very spectacular. Now the temple is no longer inhabited, and many buildings are covered with moss. The mottled archway, the solemn ancient temple, and the ginkgo trees in autumn echo each other.
