Half day trip through Dujiangyan irrigation system

How could we miss this? The Dujiangyan irrigation system is the oldest one without any dam. We've been told it's actually the only one in the world! Walking in the scenic area can be a bit exhausting, but you will be rewarded with magnificent views. The Yulei pagoda inside the scenic area (free of charge) offers a good viewpoint above the entire area, so if you feel like climbing some more, don't skip this part. It's better to enter through the west pass as the only walk up that you'll have to do is to go to the pagoda (you don't have to go there if you don't want to), otherwise, if you want to go to the irrigation system directly, then you just have to walk down. We encountered many people that went through the main entrance and then had to go up for a long time to reach the west pass. Before crossing the bridge, you can admire and pray at the old temples along the way. Then you can cross the bridge above the water, it's so impressive as it's flowing fast. Crossing the bridge is actually funny as it's bumpy like a trampoline! It took us around three hours to walk all around it, so a half day is more than enough.
