Dover Castle: the largest

#europetravel Before the trip, Dover Castle was just a stopover on my way to travel to France by ferry. However, it was so unexpectedly amazing and I still hadn't finished visiting the whole castle when I had to leave. Dover Castle is a medieval castle in Dover, Kent, South East of England. It was built in the 11th century and it is "Key to England" due to its defensive significance. There are loads to explore, from a typical medieval defence tower, Roman lighthouse, to a World War Two secret tunnel, you expect to spend a whole day in the castle. It is also very suitable for kids, with a well-designed play area with historical features, and many events held during the school holiday. It's not just a stopover for the Dover ferry. #englandtravel #heritage #kidsfun #history
