Lu's Residence in Dongyang, a representative of the Ming and Qing Dynasties' residences in the south of the Yangtze River

The ancient architectural complex of Lu's Residence is a southern gentry residence that integrates the arts of Dongyang wood carving, stone carving, brick carving, pile molding, and painting, with a history of more than 560 years. It was built from the seventh year of Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty (1456) to the seventh year of Tianshun (1462). The whole residence covers more than 550 acres, with thousands of houses, and more than 20 buildings from the Ming Dynasty to the Republic of China. It is truly the largest ancient architectural complex of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the south of the Yangtze River, so it is also called by ancient architecture experts as an 'Oriental residence of international level'. There is also a saying among the people that 'there is the Forbidden City in the north, and Lu's Residence in the south'.
