I really wish Dongshan Island could be more commercialized...

Dongshan Island is truly beautiful during the off-season with good weather, but it’s really unfriendly for solo travelers like me who don’t drive, don’t hire cars, and don’t bike—the "three no's." Although the island isn’t very big, the distances between attractions are quite large. It’s an amount of exercise that can’t be completed just by relying on two strong legs. Public transportation on the island is pitifully scarce, and the available transportation options are extremely limited. 1. You can’t get a taxi at all during the off-season. I even wonder if ride-hailing services exist on the island in the off-season... 2. There are many self-operated tricycles on the island, but there is absolutely no standardized management. Prices are very opaque, and there might be price hikes before you get off. It feels like they are specifically targeting out-of-town tourists. I basically walked over 30,000 steps from dawn till dusk and am exhausted. I only managed to cover a small section from Tongling Station to Nanmen Bay, Wengong Temple, Dingjie, Shuangmianhai, and Maluan Bay. P.S. The small island where Nanyu Lighthouse is located no longer allows visitors to land; you can only barely view the lighthouse from afar. This was never mentioned in any previous travel guides. Compared to Pingtan Island and Gulangyu, Dongshan Island’s commercialization is very immature and still stuck in the stage of unregulated small vendors charging whatever they want. Commercialization should first be standardized and professional, not something that always leaves you full of worries whenever you need to spend money.
