Embarking from Singapore, I chartered a car to Westin Desaru Coast Resort in Malaysia without much expectation, but this trip brought me a plethora of delightful surprises. As a Marriott Platinum member, I used my points to book a basic room type, but the hotel upgraded me to a luxurious ocean view room, facing the most stunning seascape. They also gifted me three complimentary breakfasts and a welcome gift featuring noteworthy Malaysian fruits, beverages, chocolates, and nuts. The hotel's service left me extremely satisfied, as every staff member demonstrated the utmost professionalism and enthusiasm. The seafood at Seafood Corner, located 7km away from the hotel, was fresh and affordable, and the seafood proprietor even offered complimentary transportation to and from Westin, which was the icing on the cake. The breakfast was exceptional! It not only included "farm to table" fresh salads but also a wide variety of Malaysian delicacies, making me look forward to it every day. The round-trip charter cost 300 Singapore dollars, and including the time spent at customs, it took about 2.5 hours one way. This journey made me realize that sometimes, having no expectations can lead to even more surprises.
