Xinshi Ancient Town Holiday Inn is worth a stay (with tips to improve the experience)

The Holiday Inn, which opened in 2003, is right next to Xinshi Ancient Town. I originally looked for this hotel to stay for a few nights just to get an upgrade room with InterContinental, but it turned out to be surprisingly cheap and good value for money, so I stayed for another night. The architectural design is absolutely amazing. It has a Chinese garden and corridor style, but it is also a very modern structure, so the living experience is good (unlike some ancient house-style hotels that look good but are not pleasant to live in). There is also a Ming and Qing Dynasty protected building in the hotel (Figures 10-11), but you can only see it from the outside. Turn right when you go out and you will reach Xinshi Ancient Town. The only drawback is that the restaurant's main dishes are not tasty, there are very few dishes to order and the prices are not low (but the prices of the dishes in the set meal I bought are not bad, maybe their banquet dishes are different from the a la carte dishes), but there are no better places to eat around. The breakfast is quite rich for a hotel that costs several hundred yuan a night, but it has too much carbohydrates, which is not very convenient for me as a diabetic. The service was also good. It was my birthday on the day I checked in, and I asked about birthday benefits, so I was given a fruit plate and a cute cake (Figure 18). I wanted to change the window view of my original room, and the service lady helped me move my large and small luggage a long way. The restaurant lady also gave me a lot of convenience and suggestions (heating things and so on). There is also an activity area for children, which has a ball pool and some small facilities, but I didn't take a closer look as I don't have children. Tips to improve your stay experience: This hotel is very special. In other hotels, the more you pay, the better the view from the window, but their standard rooms have the best view (unless you require a large living space like a suite, in which case a standard room is recommended). But there are several buildings for standard rooms (superior rooms), and the views and buildings outside the windows vary greatly. If you want to live in a historic building, it is best to apply for Qingyan Pavilion in Building 3 (Figures 12-14) before or during check-in. If you hope to see the ancient Qingyan Pavilion and the Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings outside the window, then apply to live in Building 2 (relatively closer to Qingyan Pavilion) and Building 1 (the view is closer to the Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings). Building 10-11 is also a standard room. Although there is a small river outside, there are local houses opposite, some of which are dilapidated and ugly (so I applied for a room change). The canal view rooms are a bit more expensive at a few dozen yuan. Although you can see green plants and the river, there are noises from boats passing by from time to time. People who like quiet and sleep in may find it a bit noisy, especially in the morning.
