Meili Snow Mountain Hike for Beginners: Successfully Challenging the Cordyceps Route

Rainbeng is a must-visit for hiking in Meili Snow Mountain. There are many hiking routes in Rainbeng, and the Cordyceps Route has become particularly popular in the past two years. As a beginner hiker, choosing the Cordyceps Route was a bit of a leap. Of course, with thorough preparation and an experienced team leader, I finally succeeded in reaching the top of the Cordyceps Route. 📝Three Ways to Hike the Cordyceps Route 1️⃣ Traverse Up and Down This method is not recommended at all. Although many experienced hikers choose this option, it is indeed very dangerous, and even veterans may not be immune to accidents. 2️⃣ Hike to the Pass and Back This is a safe and economical way, but the downside is that the section from Rainbeng to the pass is extremely dusty and consumes a lot of energy. 3️⃣ Take an Off-Road Vehicle to the Pass and Back This is highly recommended for beginners. Take an off-road vehicle from the Upper Rainbeng boarding point at 8:30 am to the pass, and start hiking from the pass. ♻️The Cordyceps Route is 14 km long with a vertical climb of 1,000m. The route passes through jungles and ridges to reach the final platform. There are several dangerous sections on the ridge line, including nearly 90-degree vertical climbing sections with cliffs on both sides, requiring extra caution. 🏨Accommodation You can choose to stay in Rainbeng Village, which is divided into Upper Rainbeng and Lower Rainbeng. The upper village is closer to the hiking and boarding points. Currently, the Cordyceps Route is closed for various reasons. The reopening date is yet to be announced. If it reopens, remember to follow the rules and respect nature!
