| The sunset here is amazing. If I had to recommend a mountain retreat that even lazy people can easily reach, Peacock Mountain would be my first choice. 🌄 I have a soft spot for sunsets. The sunset in the mountains is always fleeting. The sunset on Peacock Mountain is particularly dazzling, with golden light scattered on the snow-covered mountain top, as if painted by nature's gentle brush. All the noise and troubles are melted away by this golden hue. The sky at blue hour is surrounded by a colorful halo, and the mountains and the sky blend together, creating a breathtaking view. Peacock Mountain is 4,400 meters above sea level, with the magnificent Meili Snow Mountain to the north and Biluo Snow Mountain to the south. In winter, Peacock Mountain is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, creating a dreamlike beauty. The Tianxin Twelve Lakes on Peacock Mountain are like mirrors in winter, reflecting the outline of the mountains. At sunset, the golden peaks cast a warm glow on the cold ice. We found a lake that hadn't frozen over yet and took a kayak to enjoy the beauty of Peacock Mountain from another angle. Half of the lake was frozen, and when we got close to the ice, it felt like we were rowing in a slush. The water droplets froze instantly on the boat and sleeves, which was a very interesting experience. 🧭 Directions: 1. If you are driving from Deqin, (do not enter the tunnel) there is a road on the left side of the Peacock Mountain Tunnel entrance. Follow this road to the foot of Peacock Mountain, park when you see the wooden house, and walk to the lake for the rest of the journey; 2. If you are driving from Gongshan, after passing through the Peacock Mountain Tunnel, find a road on the right side, follow this road to the foot of Peacock Mountain, park when you see the wooden house, and walk to the lake for the rest of the journey; (The road on Peacock Mountain will be icy in winter, please prepare snow chains, slow down, and drive safely) 📍 Hiking information: Since vehicles can reach the foot of the mountain, the one-way hike is only 2 km, and the road is in good condition. (Be careful if the road is slippery after snow and ice) ⚠️ Note: There is no signal in the mountains, so you can download the route in advance. 🥾 Equipment sharing🆒 The wind at the pass of Peacock Mountain is strong, but it is fine when you reach the lake. Keep warm at high altitudes. Inner layer: quick-drying clothes (or warm base layer) Middle layer: fleece + down jacket (700–900 fill power) Outer layer: windbreaker + windproof pants Shoes: waterproof hiking boots (If you decide to go on a whim and don't have these, just keep warm and windproof. Try to wear waterproof shoes, as the snow can easily soak your shoes.) ✅ Other equipment: gaiters (not necessary if your windproof pants are waterproof), crampons, sunglasses, gloves, hat, trekking poles (optional, bring one if you are not in good physical condition)
