Actually, it’s not hard to reach; just follow a small path at the bridgehead east of Songyue Temple to the end. 🍁 This path is not deliberately paved; the 1 km gravel road is surrounded by rich autumn colors. At the end is a 300-400 meter forest path covered with blue oak leaves, perfectly matching the ancient poem line “oak leaves cover the mountain road.” Suddenly, ginkgo leaves start to fall, and looking up you’ll find Sanzuan Temple has arrived. 1️⃣ Sanzuan Temple Pagoda was built in the second year of Yuanguang of Jin Yizong (1223) to commemorate the third patriarch of Zen Buddhism, Sengcan. 2️⃣ The pagoda is square in plan, seven layers of overlapping dense eaves brick pagoda, about 10 meters high. The south wall of the first layer has a semicircular arched door; the second to fifth layers have pointed arch false doors. The pagoda’s core chamber is hollow and cannot be climbed. 3️⃣ In terms of artistic value, the pagoda has a beautiful shape with smooth curves. The eaves use overlapping and reverse overlapping brickwork, making the eaves deeper and parabolic in shape. 4️⃣ Architecturally, this pagoda has both Tang Dynasty charm and Jin Dynasty characteristics. It is an important physical object for studying the evolution of ancient pagodas, which is why it was selected as part of the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units. 🎫 You need to buy a 50 RMB ticket for Taishi Mountain Scenic Area or an 80 RMB combined ticket for Songyang Scenic Area.
