Stepping into Guangxi's Poetic Landscape, Encountering Dongnayu Bay

After meticulously tracing it on maps and sketching it repeatedly in my heart, I finally ventured into the poetic landscape of Chongzuo, Guangxi, and encountered Dongnayu Bay hidden between heaven and earth. "Dong" represents the daily life of mountain-dwelling families, "Na" symbolizes the hope of harvest from fertile fields, "Yu" resembles scattered stars in the Milky Way, and "Wan" is like the gentle embrace of time. This culturally rich name perfectly showcases the "water town" charm of southwestern Guangxi and the prosperity of this borderland "land of fish and rice," painting a beautiful picture of Guangxi's very own "Shangri-La." Upon entering the scenic area, the breathtaking fusion of mountains and water instantly captivates the eyes. In the distance, rolling peaks stretch like giant, agile fingers gently cradling the rising sun, its orange glow bleeding into the clear horizon. The mountains are wrapped in layers of fresh green, with every leaf tip whispering spring's secrets. The stream beneath my feet rushes joyfully, its splashes kissing the rocks in a melody of spring, while shimmering reflections of lush banks dance on the water's surface, where fish dart freely through the light. The lake resembles a vast piece of jade, its surface rippling softly in the breeze. Waterbirds skim low, their wings brushing the water and sending up strings of droplets, composing romantic verses of spring. A boat ride on the Heishui River is a wondrous journey through time. As the boat parts the water, creating frothy waves, ripples spread toward the banks, breaking the reflections of trees into fragments. The cool breeze caresses the face, bringing pure delight. Arriving at the "Water Illusion," layers of mist rise from the murmuring stream, as if revealing the shadow of Xu Xiake, the famed Ming Dynasty traveler, who once wandered here centuries ago. Standing in the heart of the mist feels like stepping into a fairyland, enveloped in an ethereal atmosphere that leaves one utterly enchanted. The Longbitan Waterfall Group presents another awe-inspiring spectacle. Water cascades from great heights like white dragons plunging through stone forests into emerald pools, sending droplets flying and bringing refreshing coolness. From the waterfall viewing platform, the air is thick with mist as the river leaps and sprays, creating a breathtaking scene that showcases nature's divine craftsmanship. The waterfalls form a unique "heart" shape, and from different angles on the platform, visitors are treated to unparalleled visual feasts—every snapshot a masterpiece. Beyond its natural wonders, Dongnayu Bay's cultural charm is equally captivating. At the Tusi Wharf, guests are warmly welcomed with Zhuang ethnic rice wine and treated to performances of the Tianqin (a traditional string instrument) and the lively Duoye Dance, immersing them in rich ethnic traditions. Strolling along the Guantian Trail, one can hear the resonant folk songs exchanged between sisters on one side and brothers on the other. The annual "Flower Festival" from March to May is especially vibrant, featuring parades of flower deities in splendid attire, lively folk dances like the nimble "Frog Dance" and the playful "Guess-the-Code Dance," and a grand floral feast with delicacies such as locust flower glutinous rice that tantalize the taste buds.
