From Litang to Daocheng Yading, every frame is a visual feast!

2025.10.17 Just after 9 a.m., we set off from the thousand-year-old Tibetan village in Litang, embarking on our journey to Daocheng Yading. Along the way, the mountain scenery constantly changes in color—grassy hills dotted with shrubs, rocky mountains mingling with tall trees, and barren sandy hills, each with its own unique charm. Every scene is a visual feast. Haizi Mountain (the world's largest ancient glacier relic) stretches endlessly, with jagged rocks everywhere. There are no trees here, only an almost absolute, primitive wilderness. In this extreme desolation representing "extinction" and the "past," signs of life can still be found; the azure Haizi (lake) quietly reflects the sky. This extreme juxtaposition of death and life brings a profound spiritual impact. When you leave, what you take away is not just a few beautiful photos, but a new perspective on life, baptized by the ancient memory of the Earth. The route from Litang to Daocheng Yading, known as the "most beautiful scenic highway in western Sichuan," offers delightful surprises at every turn. This is not just spatial displacement but an elevation of the soul. As the wheels roll over the gravel road, the dust raised carries the fragrance of freedom. The destination now is precisely the starting point for tomorrow—the meeting of Daocheng Yading and the pilgrims. Tips: 1. Attractions along the way: Haizi Mountain, Stone Park, Sangdui River Wetland Park, Rewu Monastery, Bowa Mountain, Wuliang River, Stone River, Rabbit Mountain, Xingyicuo, and more. 2. Scenery along the way: The latter half of the route from Litang to Daocheng Yading features mountain views and meadows comparable to the stunning landscapes of Hemu, Haba River, and Five-Color Beach in Xinjiang—truly magnificent. 3. Road conditions: Few vehicles and beautiful scenery; trucks have become a "rare species." The road is in good condition, and even novice drivers can handle it easily. 4. Altitude sickness response: Litang is at 4,014 meters elevation, making altitude sickness common. Carrying a portable oxygen machine effectively eased our discomfort.
