Lu'e Mountain Site

Lu'e Mountain is a peninsula on the east side of Erhai Lake in Dali. Originally named Chiwen Island, it is located within the jurisdiction of Kanglang Village, Wase Town, Dali City. During the Republic of China period, archaeologists discovered a large number of pottery shards and a small number of stone and bronze artifacts on the northwestern slope of Lu'e Mountain, determining them to be ancient cultural relics from the Neolithic to the Han Dynasty. Therefore, this place is called the Lu'e Mountain Site and is marked on electronic maps. We have driven past the Lu'e Mountain Site many times during our self-driving tours but never stopped to take a look. Recently, we passed by again and saw a row of cars and a coffee stand parked by the roadside. On a whim, we decided to stop and explore Lu'e Mountain. To our surprise, we realized how much scenery we had missed. On the northern slope of Lu'e Mountain, there are now Guanyin Pavilion and Prince Hall, nestled against the mountain and facing the water. The Guanyin Pavilion is a two-story square structure with colonnades and flying eaves. Its distinctive features include fish and dragon ridge decorations, tile cats on the eaves corners, and folk paintings on the walls. A couplet on the colonnades compares the Neolithic cultural site of Lu'e Mountain with the charm of Cangshan and Erhai, the rosy clouds of Jizu Mountain, and the snow of Yulong Mountain, highlighting its value. You can descend steep steps to the water's edge, where rocks, caves, flowers, trees, and clear water create a harmonious picture. It's a perfect spot for taking photos from various angles. The peninsula's three sides have similar waterfronts, making it ideal for sightseeing, playing in the water, photography, reading, tea tasting, chatting, or simply daydreaming. Climbing to the top of Lu'e Mountain offers a broad view. To the north, you can see the ancient town of Shuanglang and Nanzhao Folk Island. To the west, you can see Cangshan Mountain shrouded in rolling clouds and the contiguous Bai villages at its foothills. To the south, you can see the winding East Ring Road and the bay around Raoshan Mountain. Looking down, you can see the waterfront and tourists enjoying their time. The water and sky blend into one, merging the scenery with oneself, making the mind wander and the spirit soar. Lu'e Mountain Site
