The ancient city of Binxian, with its magnificent walls, ancient pavilions, strange caves, and treasure pagodas: Binxian ancient town

The town is located in the southeast of Binxian County, home to more than 10 ethnic groups such as Hui and Naxi. It is in the subtropical winter-dry and summer-wet low-latitude plateau monsoon climate zone, with mild winters and summers, abundant sunlight, rich heat, obvious vertical climate, beautiful natural scenery, and rich products. In 2010, it was awarded the honorary title of 'China's Historical and Cultural Famous Town'. The ancient town, also known as 'Bai Xia City', was named for the spectacular sight of white clouds. The ancient city was built in the seventh year of Hongzhi of the Ming Dynasty (1494 AD), with city towers built above the four gates, and moon cities outside the north and south gates, and corner towers at each corner of the city. The city wall was repaired several times during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, the Guangxu period, and the Republic of China. After liberation, most of the city wall was demolished, and now about 200 meters of the city wall is well preserved, and the heavy city bricks 'Xianfeng Second Year Zhizhou Zao', 'Cao' and other characters are still clearly visible. The ancient city is a square chessboard layout. The center of the cross street is built with a four-story hexagonal spire over the street bell and drum tower, also called Binxing Tower, which dominates the whole city. In addition to the bell and drum tower, the ancient city also preserves a large number of ancient architectural groups and ancient residential buildings from the Ming, Qing, and Republic of China periods, such as the Confucian Temple, the Martial Temple, the City God Temple, the Martyrs' Shrine, the Guanyin Pavilion, the Baoguo Temple, the Wenchang Palace, the Nanxun Bridge, the Catholic Church, the Sichuan Guild Hall, and the Bishan Academy. The Martyrs' Shrine and the Bice Academy, the Confucian Temple and the Martial Temple and the Catholic Church, the Guanyin Pavilion and the Wenchang Palace and the Baoguo Temple are arranged in groups. The ancient city, west, south, and north streets still maintain the ancient style, with ancient residential buildings lined on both sides, and the ancient style remains. At present, the entire city basically maintains the ancient city layout of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In Binxian ancient city, small shops and stalls doing small businesses such as pushing light lacquer, cloth shoes, paper cutting, moon cakes, bowl baldness, etc. are scattered in the streets and alleys of the ancient city, with a variety of tourist products dazzling. The city has experienced vicissitudes and changes.
