Trip to Colmar, France 🇫🇷

It was a trip to Colmar, France 🇫🇷 Colmar was a wonderful escape into the heart of Alsace, where charm, history, and beauty come together in one picturesque town. We began our day exploring Colmar’s Old Town (Centre-Ville de Colmar), which feels like stepping back in time 🕰️ The colorful half-timbered houses and winding cobblestone streets gave us the most authentic “storybook” 📖 vibes. We visited LaPetite Venise (Little Venice): This area of Colmar is absolutely magical ✨ We wandered along the canals, passing by quaint homes adorned with flowers 🌺 It’s a perfect spot for photos 📸 📍Rue des Marchands, 68000 Colmar After a leisurely stroll, we stopped for a coffee at a local café ☕️ along the canals to take in the view. The cafés here have such a cozy charm! We also explored the Unterlinden Museum (Musée Unterlinden), one of the best things to do in Colmar if you appreciate art and history. This former convent houses 🏘️ an impressive collection, from medieval religious artifacts to contemporary works. The highlight for us was the Isenheim Altarpiece, an extraordinary piece of art that gives a glimpse into Colmar’s rich history 🙌 📍2 Rue du Musée, 68000 Colmar. We also ventured just outside the town to explore Route des Vins d’Alsace (Alsace Wine Route). Colmar is perfectly 💯 located to explore the Alsace vineyards, and we couldn’t miss out on trying some local wines 🍷 We visited Domaine Martin Jund, a family-owned vineyard where we took a tour and tasted several wines. The setting was beautiful, and the wines were fantastic 😍 📍Domaine Martin Jund, 23 Rue du Gén de Gaulle, 68420 Wettolsheim. As the evening approached, we decided to visit the Bartholdi Museum. This museum is dedicated to Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, who was born in Colmar. The museum is housed in his childhood home and provides fascinating insight into his life and works ✨ 📍30 Rue du Marché aux Poissons, 68000 Colmar. We visited in the fall, which was lovely. The weather was cool, and the autumn 🍂 colors made the town look even more magical. Colmar is a very walkable city, so we didn’t need a car. The train 🚂 station is also centrally located if you’re coming from other parts of France. Overall, we absolutely loved our visit to Colmar and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and picturesque getaway 🙌🙌🙌 #favouriteitinerary #staycation #travel
