Fish head vs. traditional snacks? A day of food hunting in Qiandao Lake.

When it comes to Qiandao Lake's delicacies, fish head is the first thing that comes to mind. In fact, there's even a saying that you haven't been to Qiandao Lake if you haven't eaten fish head. Almost every restaurant in Qiandao Lake specializes in fish head. I've been to Qiandao Lake several times and tried several restaurants, and I personally feel that there's not much difference between them. This time, I chose Jin Yu Tang Feng Song Yun Zao Tai Yu, which specializes in cooking fish head right in front of you. The restaurant's decor has an ancient style, and there's a guzheng performance at the entrance. They also provide Hanfu for guests to take photos. There are basically three ways to cook fish head in Qiandao Lake: the local flavors are fish head in thick soup and braised fish head, and the more popular one among young people is chopped pepper fish head. In addition to fish head, you can also try some of Qiandao Lake's specialty dishes, such as Qiandao Lake Ye Jiao Jiao (actually stir-fried kudzu root cold noodles), dried vegetable corn, braised fish maw, etc. Overall, there are no surprises, but you won't be disappointed either. In addition to fish head, Qiandao Lake also has many of its own specialty snacks. As part of the ancient Yanzhou Prefecture, it has preserved many traditional Yanzhou delicacies. Located between Hangzhou and Huizhou, Qiandao Lake's traditional delicacies also have the flavors of these two places. The best place to find traditional delicacies is, of course, the streets and alleys of the city. But if you don't want to search, My Sister's House Handmade Snacks (Xin'an East Road) is a good choice. It offers a collection of traditional snacks from the local area and nearby places. I recommend the tofu buns, stir-fried rice noodles, ban chuan, wontons, and soup dumplings. At the hotel, I happened to see someone carrying two large bags of steamed buns. I found out that these were Qiandao Lake's famous Niao Niao Bao, which are actually local specialty fermented rice buns. So, I went to Zhang Ji Qiandao Lake Fermented Rice Buns and bought several bags. I happened to catch a fresh batch, and I was completely won over by the soft and non-sticky texture. In addition to the original flavor, which costs 6 yuan for a bag of 10, there are also pumpkin, purple sweet potato, and brown sugar flavors, which cost 8 yuan per bag. When they're cold, just heat them up in the fridge before eating. They're perfect for lazy people at home or as gifts for relatives and friends. I ended up filling half of my trunk with them.
