Meifeng Island on Qiandao Lake, a picturesque tour among the emerald waters

"Without ascending Meifeng to view the islands, one does not truly see the essence of Qiandao Lake." When it comes to the most representative attraction of Qiandao Lake, 'Meifeng Lansheng' is second to none. Meifeng Island is located in the central lake area of Qiandao Lake, surrounded by numerous islands scattered like stars, with intricate waterways and harbors. The island boasts a sea of plum blossoms, a maple and azalea garden, a sightseeing orchard, and grass sliding among other landscape projects. From the observation deck, one can overlook more than 300 uniquely shaped islands and appreciate the artistic conception of 'a picturesque tour among the emerald waters of a thousand islands.' It is said to be the best place in Qiandao Lake for a panoramic view, but in my opinion, Tianyu Mountain is just as impressive as Meifeng. There are two theories about the origin of the name 'Meifeng.' One is that Meifeng Island consists of five hills, resembling the shape of a plum blossom; the other is that the mountain peak was once covered with wild wax plum trees with willow-like leaves. At the top of Meifeng, there are two observation decks: the East and the West, only a hundred meters apart. The essence of Meifeng Island is mainly concentrated around the West Observation Deck, where one can personally experience the beauty of green mountains and waters. Although Meifeng Island is not very high, the mountain roads are steep, and most tourists choose to take the cable car up and down the mountain. This is to save energy and to avoid being late, as the cruise ship leaves on schedule without counting the number of people.
