In Tuwan, there’s a quiet and unique cultural and creative park — Zhongmian Courtyard.

This space was once an abandoned factory, but now it has been revitalized into a lively and dynamic cultural hub, blending art, leisure, and creativity into one. Although Zhongmian Courtyard is not large, every inch of land exudes a rich cultural heritage. Upon entering the courtyard, the first thing you’ll notice is the traditional tea-brewing area. The owner must be a lover of old things, as the courtyard and rooms are filled with 1970s antiques. Many visitors, especially older women, find echoes of their youth in these items. Here, you can gather around the tea kettle, enjoy a good pot of tea, roast sweet potatoes and chestnuts, and indulge in the rare serenity and comfort. In the courtyard, there’s a unique kiln-baked bread shop, where the owner bakes the bread on-site. While drinking tea, you can wait for the freshly baked bread, soft and delicious, filling the air with an irresistible aroma, tempting passersby to line up and buy some. There’s also a homemade brewing workshop. For those who love alcohol culture, the owner will invite you to sit down and try their homemade brew. Besides the scent of alcohol and tea, Zhongmian Courtyard also hides a treasure — the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum. This museum was founded by a group of retired teachers, who have poured their lifelong skills and passion into this small space. For just 68 yuan per person, visitors can experience traditional crafts like jade embroidery, batik, and filigree enamel. The joy and sense of accomplishment from creating your own handcrafted piece are indescribable. Of course, Zhongmian Courtyard’s charm doesn’t end there. A group of music-loving older folks has created a warm, artistic tea house. Here, for just 8 yuan, you can enjoy tea and experience a sense of relaxation and freedom. Even more surprising, you can listen to the soulful voice of the older gentleman, whose deep voice draws every passerby to stop and listen. This cultural park, transformed from an old factory, not only preserves the historical traces and memories but also infuses new vitality and creativity. It’s like a small treasure waiting for every culture lover to explore. 📍Take Line 9 of the light rail to Xiaolongkan Station, exit from Gate 5A. Walk about 800 meters to the courtyard entrance. It’s better not to drive, as the area is an old residential neighborhood with limited parking. There is a paid parking lot about 500 meters away. The courtyard is small, so it’s best to arrive early.
