Chaotianmen Wharf

After reading the novel 'Red Rock' and watching the movie 'Forever in Fire', one would know about Chongqing's Chaotianmen. It is the place where Sister Jiang and Pu Zhigao met and discovered his betrayal. Chaotianmen is located at the confluence of the Jialing River and the Yangtze River, where the Jialing River on the left side of Chaotianmen gathers small streams and flows for about 1,100 meters before joining the Yangtze River. Chaotianmen is a pivotal hub of the two rivers and also the largest waterway passenger terminal in Chongqing. It is one of the landscapes that best represents the urban architecture of Chongqing. Nearby are landmark buildings such as Hongyadong, the Grand Theatre, the Science and Technology Museum, Nanbin Road, Sheraton, and Raffles City. If one wants to see the beautiful scenery and the full view around Chaotianmen, it can only be viewed from the opposite side of the river, from Nanbin Road across Chaotianmen, because all the beautiful views of Chongqing are better appreciated from a distance than up close. Chaotianmen was one of the seventeen ancient city gates of Chongqing, flanked by two rivers and fortified on three sides, with a majestic presence. On the stone walls, vines hang green, and Huangjiao trees penetrate the rocks and embrace the stones, with lush greenery blending in. There is an ancient pavilion on the edge of the cliff, with flying eaves overlooking the river. Two rows of stone steps descend shoulder to shoulder, leading directly to the water.
