Chongqing Art Museum | A must-visit art museum

Chongqing Art Museum I used to pass by this museum often without knowing it was there. Its facade faces the famous 'Chopsticks Building', yes, that's right! It's the Guotai Arts Center. I always thought it was just a place for plays and performances, but it turns out there's an art museum right behind it, on the fourth (or maybe fifth) floor of the shopping mall. There's a large terrace on top, where locals often come to stroll with their children and exercise. The Chongqing Art Museum was established on the basis of the former Chongqing Painting Academy (Chongqing Chinese Painting Academy) and is a public cultural institution. The exhibition hall covers an area of about 8,200 square meters, with four exhibition halls and about 1,000 meters of exhibition line. It was completed and opened to the public for free in October 2013. The works inside are diverse, including Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, sculpture, and other techniques, all reflecting the artisans' dedication to perfection. Many of the works are truly breathtaking. The exhibition hall is quite large and the displays are simple, with only two floors. But there are really a lot of works, too many to photograph in one visit. Inside, the use of colors is simple yet stylish, creating a minimalist but stylish atmosphere. The first floor is mostly craft works, and the second floor is mostly paintings and calligraphy. As it is an exhibition hall, the works on display change regularly, so the content shared each time is always different. Transportation: Take Metro Line 1 to Xiaoshizi Station, Exit 6, and walk for about 10 minutes to get there. Tickets: Free, just make an online reservation. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9 am to 5 pm. Closed on Mondays. Recommended visiting time: 1.5 to 2.5 hours Nearby: Jiefangbei, Bayi Delicious Street, Hongya Cave, Daijiaxiang, and the Yangtze River Cableway (this one is right in the heart of the shopping district).

Chongqing Art Museum is located in the busy Jiefangbei business district. This building resembles the Chinese Hall built for the Shanghai Expo in 2010. With its bright red color scheme, it really stands out against the overcast sky and densely packed buildings.
