The Wuyi Mountains (

The Wuyi Mountains (武夷山) is a mountainous complex located in the city of Wuyi, on the border of Jiangxi and Fujian Provinces. It has a total area of about 60 km². In the 1st century AD, many large cities were built near the Wuyi Mountains by the Han dynasty. There is the Wuyi Palace, which was built in the 7th century AD as a place where sacrifices were made by the emperor. Wuyi Palace is also the center of Taoism and one of the nine most important Taoist temples in the 10th century. The hills in the Wuyi Mountains are generally made of red sandstone, very steep but have a flat surface at the peak.
