Khitan-Liao Culture

The Liao dynasty, though not very long-lived, was a northern regime where culture and art flourished, trade was prosperous, and the political system was well-established. The civilization achievements it created are also an extremely important and magnificent chapter in the history of Chinese civilization development. Throughout the Liao dynasty, the center of rule was always in today's Chifeng area, hence the Liao remains within Chifeng are incredibly rich, making it the center for Chinese and foreign scholars to study Khitan-Liao culture. Chifeng Museum has also dedicated a separate exhibition hall for a comprehensive display of these cultural relics.
