The former shrine, now the Sun-shooting Tower

It was jointly planned and designed by Professor Lin Xiande of the Department of Architecture of National Cheng Kung University and Zhuo Jianguang Architects. It is known as the "New Landmark of Chiayi City." The original site was the Chiayi Shrine built during the Japanese colonial era. The main shrine was converted into the Chiayi City Martyrs' Shrine after World War II and was completely destroyed by a fire on April 24, 1994. The Sun-Shooting Pagoda was the second-generation shrine at the time, and next to the Sun-Shooting Pagoda there are remains of the base of the first-generation shrine. Although the shrine is no longer visible, I can still imagine the scale of the shrine and its prosperity from the remaining ruins. You can take a walk and admire the historical buildings.
