Baandam Museum (Black House Museum)

Baandam is not a temple, but an open-air museum. Its architecture resembles a temple and the entire building is predominantly black. It was built by Thailand's national treasure artist, Dr. Thawan Duchanee, starting in 1984 (rumored to be a disciple of the White Temple architect). The museum mainly showcases the artist's works, along with many eclectic collections, mostly in black tones. There are numerous animal bones, specimens, wood carvings, stone carvings, bamboo weavings, and other artworks. The paintings are vivid with strong colors, predominantly red, black, and white, embodying a wild and extravagant style (which makes me feel a stark contrast to the White Temple, suggesting that the master and disciple might not have gotten along well 😅). The collection of objects makes the Black House Museum feel like an art and cultural relic museum. An entrance ticket is required to enter the park, priced at 80 THB per person.
