Visit the Gu Phra Chao and pray for love at Wat Prasat

🏡 Wat Prasat was established in 1492 during the reign of Phaya Yod Chiang Rai. Since the temple is located in the area where the nobility and officials resided, it has been well-maintained over the years. 🏠 In 1823, during the reign of Chao Luang Tham Langa, Wat Prasat was renovated and the Viharn (main hall) was built. The important and interesting features within the temple are as follows: 🏡 The Ubosot (ordination hall) was renovated during the reign of Phaya Sam Lan. Inside, there is the Phra Chao Muen Thong, a bronze Buddha statue in the Mara Vichaya posture, cast by Phaya Luang Saen Kham in 1590. 🛕 The Chedi (stupa) is a blend of the square-shaped Sukhothai style and the round-shaped Chiang Mai style. Phaya Luang Sam Lan presided over its renovation in 1823. 🏠 The Viharn is in the Lanna style, with Naga (serpent) stairs leading up to the building. The front of the Viharn is adorned with stucco patterns and colored glass. Inside, there are murals on a red lacquer background depicting the life of the Buddha. 🛕 Inside the Viharn, there is a large Khong arch known as Gu Phra Chao, which is rare to find nowadays. It houses the principal Buddha image, a stucco Buddha in the Mara Vichaya posture with a serene face.
