It was built during the reign of King Saen Mueang Ma, King Rama VII of the Mangrai Dynasty. The exact year of construction is unknown. It is assumed that this temple was built between 1928 - 1945 and has been renovated in many eras. .. At present, only half of the temple remains from the major earthquake during the reign of Mahadevi Chiraprapa, King Rama XV of the Mangrai Dynasty.
