Overlooking the ancient city of Chiang Mai from Suthep Mountain.

Located in the western suburbs of Chiang Mai's old city, Doi Suthep is a Buddhist holy site in Thailand with an altitude of over 1600 meters. It is a high mountain with many tourists and dense forests. The admission is free, but the temple on the mountain requires a separate ticket. The mountain top is surrounded by white clouds and beautiful scenery. This is the closest mountain to Chiang Mai. Tour buses are not allowed to go up Doi Suthep, so visitors must transfer to local songthaews at the foot of the mountain, but it involves many winding roads. Private cars can be hired and driven up the mountain along the winding mountain road. Songthaews are the most important transportation in Thailand, similar to taxis, and can be hailed and stopped at any time. From Chiang Mai Old City to Doi Suthep, the iconic Double Dragon Temple is a 15-kilometer journey. Double Dragon Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai, built on a high platform. On both sides of the temple gate, there are multi-headed dragons made of colored glass and glazed tiles. Each dragon head has six small dragon heads looking up to the sky, and the dragon body is tens of meters long, with a majestic momentum. The huge stupa on the mountaintop towers into the clouds, with a gold-leafed surface shining brilliantly in the sunlight. Walking up 300 steps from the foot of Doi Suthep to the mountaintop viewpoint, you can have a panoramic view of Chiang Mai city, which is a natural observation deck of Chiang Mai. There is also the Thai King's summer palace, Bhubing Palace, built here.

Doi Suthep-Pui National Park

#holidayvacation Doi Pui, at 1,685metres above sea level, is the highest peak in the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. It is famous for its beautiful waterfalls which are easily reached from the main road. But one of the hottest attractions for Doi Pui must be Hmong Tribal Village situated less than five kilometres from the famous Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. A visit to this village is an eye-opener into the tribal villagers’ private life. Witness their simple way of living, their homes, as well as learn about their culture through a collection of objects, such as musical instruments, traditional silver-embroidered costumes and bamboo crafts. #scenicspotguide#unforgettableexperiences#nyedestinations#holidayvacation#tripinspired
