Chengdu marketplace in traditional vibe

#postandearn Dongmen Shijing, located in Chengdu’s Jinjiang District near the former residence of writer Li Jieren, is a vibrant cultural street that blends old Chengdu charm with modern lifestyle. Covering about 40 acres, the area recreates scenes of traditional city life with features like old-style teahouses, sunken plazas, wooden street stalls, and pavilions. Visitors can enjoy classic Sichuan snacks like danhonggao (sweet pancakes), beef noodles, and feichangfen (intestine noodles), while also exploring local crafts such as sugar painting, bamboo weaving, and kung fu tea performances. Dongmen Marketplace to me captures the relaxed yet spirited essence of Chengdu. If you’re into down-to-earth local vibes, I highly recommend coming to this area in the evening, where the area would light up. I didn’t manage to because it was just a short transit for me in Chengdu.
