Chengdu Han Zhaolie Temple, a reflection on history and culture.

I visited Chengdu and made a special trip to Han Zhaolie Temple. Although this temple is not as famous as the Wuhou Shrine, its serene and solemn atmosphere, along with the exquisite murals and couplets on the walls, made me feel as if I had traveled back to the era of heroes. The Han Zhaolie Temple mainly enshrines Liu Bei, the founding emperor of Shu Han, who is honored by later generations as the 'Zhaolie Emperor.' The temple houses many artifacts and calligraphy works related to him and the turbulent times of the Three Kingdoms. As I strolled through the temple, I paid special attention to the weathered stone carvings, each stroke filled with the weight of history. The meticulously painted murals on the walls not only recreate Liu Bei's ambitions and aspirations but also incorporate the traditional charm of western Sichuan, allowing me to deeply appreciate the inheritance of 'loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, and righteousness' here. The courtyard outside the temple is filled with ancient trees, and moss grows between the stone steps. I sat quietly on the side, reflecting deeply, and felt a profound respect for that period of history. Perhaps it is this enduring cultural heritage that makes Chengdu even more charming in its blend of old and new.
