Transportation: 🚇Subway: Take Line 4 to Caotang North Road Station, Exit B, and walk about 900 meters; or take Line 5 to Qingyang Palace Station, Exit B, and walk about 1.5 kilometers. 🚗Self-driving: There are underground parking lots at the south and north gates of Du Fu Thatched Cottage. 🚶Tour route Main entrance (west gate) → Daxie → Shishitang → Chaimen → Gongbu Temple → "Shaoling Thatched Cottage" Stele Pavilion → Thatched Cottage Scenic Area → Huajing → "Thatched Cottage" Wall Shadow → Dayatang [Must-see spots] 📍Yilan Pavilion. Enter the north gate and turn right. You will see a four-story brick tower through the waterside pavilion. Although it is called a pavilion, Yilan Pavilion is more like a tower. 📍Daxie. "Xie" means government office. There are couplets hanging on both sides and a bronze statue of Du Fu. 📍Shishitang. In the center of the hall is a statue of Du Fu carved by sculptor Liu Kaiqu. 📍Gongbu Temple. Du Fu once served as a staff officer in Chengdu. He was also an official of the Ministry of Works, so later generations often referred to him as "Du Gongbu." 📍Thatched Cottage Scenic Area. The restored former residence of Du Fu. Based on Du Fu's poems describing the thatched cottage, the restored thatched cottage basically recreates Du Fu's life in Chengdu. 📍Huajing. In front of Du Fu's thatched cottage was a path lined with flowers and trees called Huajing. He once wrote in a poem, "The flower path has never been swept for a guest, today the lotus gate is opened for you." Today's Huajing is a popular spot with red walls. 📍Dayatang. Originally the main hall of Caotang Temple, it was later converted into an exhibition hall for Chinese poetry. 📌Travel tips 1. Du Fu Thatched Cottage is very large. It takes about 1.5 hours to walk through it quickly. If you want to take your time and take photos, we recommend setting aside 3–4 hours. 2. If you like taking photos, wearing Hanfu or traditional Chinese clothing is perfect. The thatched cottage, bamboo forest, and red walls are all beautiful photo backgrounds. 3. More than 50% of the buildings in the scenic area are shops.
