Chengdu Revisited: Qingyang Palace

Qingyang Palace was built in the Zhou Dynasty and was originally called Qingyangsi. In the Ming Dynasty, the halls built in the Tang Dynasty were destroyed in the war. Most of the existing buildings were rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1667–1671) and cover an area of about 120,000 square meters. The main buildings include the Mountain Gate, the Hall of the Three Purities, and the Hall of the Tang King. The Hall of the Primordial Unity is tall and magnificent, and the Bagua Pavilion is the most well-preserved and luxurious building, with a statue of Laozi riding a green ox.
