 “Doi Pu Yak” is a mountain that stretches in Chae Hom District. It is a prominent mountain that can be seen from afar from all sides. The peak is a steep cliff. On the highest peak of the mountain, there is a sacred footprint of the Lord Buddha. Before, to pay homage to the footprint of the Lord Buddha, one had to have strong faith because the path was difficult and had to pass through steep cliffs. However, people went up to pay homage to the footprint of the Lord Buddha until it became a tradition. Later, a temple was built on the peak of this mountain. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of King Mongkut (Rama IV) (October 18, 2004), the Sangha resolved to build two temples to honor him to commemorate his great kindness towards the Thai people: Wat Phra Mahathat in Bangkok and Wat Phra Chom Klao Rachanusorn.
