The 1969 film "Walter Defends Sarajevo" is not just a movie, but a vivid memory of history that draws me across mountains and rivers to this mysterious land. Upon arriving in Sarajevo, the city's atmosphere immediately envelops me. It lacks the hustle and bustle of a big city, yet it is full of unique charm. Walking along the ancient streets, the cobblestones beneath my feet seem to tell stories of the past. The architectural styles along the street are diverse, with the elegance of the Ottoman Empire and traces of Austro-Hungarian rule. Different cultures collide and blend here, creating the unique allure of Sarajevo. I arrive at the Latin Bridge, a seemingly ordinary stone bridge that was the spark of World War I. In 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife were assassinated here, igniting the flames of the First World War. Standing on the bridge, I can almost see the tense and turbulent scenes of the past, and the weight of history is palpable. In the movie, Walter also engaged in fierce battles with the enemy near here. Today, the buildings by the bridge remain, but the smoke of war has long dissipated, leaving behind people's appreciation and longing for peace. In Sarajevo, there is another must-see place - the Yellow Fortress. From here, the view of the entire city is breathtaking. The distant mountains undulate, and the city nestled in their embrace appears particularly tranquil. In the movie, the guerrillas fought fiercely with the enemy here, sacrificing their lives to defend their homeland. Today, the Yellow Fortress has become a popular spot for tourists to enjoy the scenery and experience history. Standing on the Yellow Fortress, I close my eyes, and scenes from the movie flash through my mind, filling me with admiration for those brave warriors. Because of a movie, I came to Sarajevo. Here, I see the intertwining of history and reality, and I feel the cruelty of war and the preciousness of peace. This city is not only a legendary place in the movie but also a place full of stories and emotions. It makes me understand that although history has passed, its traces will never disappear.
